ANANA GULGULA / SWEET BANANA FRITTERS

INGREDIENTS

  • Wheat flour – ½ cup
  • Maida – ½ cup
  • Very ripe bananas – 3
  • Sugar pwdr – ¼ cup [adjust according to the sweetness of the banana]
  • Vanilla essence – ½ tsp
  • Oil for deep frying

METHOD

Peel the banana and mash it with a fork . [don’t mash with hand, you have to use a fork ]

Mash until smooth.

Now add sugar + vanilla essence and mix well.

Now slowly add the flours and mix well into a smooth batter.

Keep aside for 10 mins or directly fry it .

Heat oil in a pan

Scoop little batter with a spoon ,using another spoon drop it into the oil OR using hands drop the batter in the oil .

Fry on medium flame , frequently turning it ,till it browns evenly from all sides . [ don’t burn it ]

Once done , remove on absorbent paper .

NOTES

  1. Bananas have to very ripe.
  2. You can add a pinch of baking soda or 1 tsp baking pwdr.
  3. Instead of vanilla essence you can add cinnamom pwdr or nutmeg pwdr or cardamom pwdr .
  4. You also add black raisins.
  5. You can also fry in appe pan.
  6. The batter has to be thick ,so adjust ingredients accordingly. If the batter is watery it will absorb more oil.
  7. Hey you can also add fennel seeds [ saunf ]
  8. You can also fry in ghee for better taste.
  9. You can aslo use brown derma sugar or jaggery
  10. My mom used to make only with wheat flour.
