                                                                         INDIAN BESAN BREAD TOAST RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

  • Besan – 1 cup
  • Rice pwdr or cornflour – 2tsp [optional]
  • Bread – 3 slices
  • Finely chopped onions – 2 tbsp
  • Deseeded finely chopped tomatoes – 2 tbsp
  • Finely chopped green chillies – 1
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves – 2tbsp
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Turmeric pwdr – ¼ tsp
  • Red chilli pwdr – ¼ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • oil for frying

METHOD

In a bowl mix all the ingredients except bread and oil.

Add water and make a medium consistency batter.[not ery thick or very thin]

Mix well with your hands so that there are no lumps.

Slice each bread into 4 triangles.

Heat ½  tbsp oil in a nonstick pan on medium flame.

Dip the bread in the batter and place 4 pieces on the tava to fry.

Flip ,add more ½ tbsp oil  and fry on the other side .

Fry till it is evenly fried on both sides.

Remove on a absorbent paper .

Serve hot with tomato ketchup or any chutney.

NOTES

  1. Don’t soak the bread in the batter for long time or the bread will become soggy and break.
  2. Dip the bread with hands so that it gets evenly covered with the batter.
  3. Adjust chilli as per taste.
  4. Onion and tomato can be optional.
  5. You can reduce the oil.
  6. Instead of pouring oil ,just drizzle.
  7. You can also add finely chopped capsicum or grated carrot.
  8. While making for kids avoid green chillies.you can use pepper pwdr.
