Capsicum cheese sandwich

CAPSICUM CHEESE SANDWICH

INGREDIENTS

  • Mashed potato – 1 cup
  • Finely chopped capsicum – ½ cup
  • Finely chopped onion – ¼ cup
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Chilli flakes – ½ tsp
  • Mixed herbs / oregano – 1 tsp
  • Pepper pwdr – ½ tsp
  • Cheese grated – 2 cubes or more
  • Butter as required
  • Bread – 6 slices
  • Chaat masala – ½ tsp

PREPARATION

  1. Boil potato till soft ,peel and mash it to smooth mixture without any lumps .
  2. Take mashed potato + all other ingredients [ except bread and butter ] and mix well with clean hands.
  3. Make green chutney by grinding coriander leaves + onion [optional ] + ginger + garlic + green chilli + salt + sugar . RECIPE – Green chutney recipe

METHOD

Apply butter on the top part of 4 bread .

Apply green chutney on 4 slices .

Spread a layer of the potato mixture above the green chutney .

Here you can grate more cheese if you want .

Now place the plain slice of bread over the potato mixture as shown in the video and cover it with the other bread slice topped with potato mixture and press tightly.

Apply some butter on the top.

Heat a tava or toaster .

Place the sandwich with butter side facing down .

Toast it till golden and crisp .

Now again apply some butter on the top and flip it .

Cook on the other side also till crisp and golden .

Remove and slice it .

Serve hot with chutney /dips /sauce .

*** If you don’t have a toaster .Then place a lid / plate on the sandwich with a heavy object while toasting as shown in the video.

NOTES

  1. Adjust quantity of ingredients as per taste .
  2. Capsicum has to be chopped finely. Also the quantity has to be more ,as it gives a lot of flavor to the sandwich.
  3. Applying butter before spreading the mixture is must ,else the sandwich will become soggy .
  4. If adding cheese ,be careful while adding salt .
  5. Instead of herbs you can add Indian spice .
