COCONUT MILK CHUTNEY

COCONUT MILK CHUTNEY

INGREDIENTS

  • Freshly grated coconut – 2 cup
  • Warm water to grind the coconut
  • Green chilli – 2
  • Garlic – 2
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tsp mustard seeds + split urad dal – 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves few
  • Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp [optional ]
COCONUT MILK CHUTNEY

METHOD

First grind the coconut + garlic + green chilli without water in a mixer .[ refer here – How to extract Coconut milk at home ]

Then add 1 ½ cup of warm water and grind nicely .

Extract the milk using a strainer .

Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds + urad dal ,let it crackle.

Add curry leaves and pour the tempering into the coconut milk and mix well.

Serve as SouthIndian accompaniment for idli /dosa/ appam /idiappam .

NOTE

  1. The coconut milk should not be very thick or very thin , it should be of medium thickness .
  2. U can dunk the idlis in it and have ,just like v do with vada sambar .
  3. Instead of garlic u can use a small piece of ginger .
