Deep fried bombil

INGREDIENTS

  • Bombay duck fish – 5
  • Chilli pwdr – 1 tsp or as per taste
  • Turmeric pwdr – ¼ tsp
  • Garam masala – ¼ tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste – ½ tsp
  • besan- 1 tsp for binding
  • Vinegar /lemon juice – ½ tbsp.
  • Rava – ¼ cup
  • Rice flour – ¼ cup
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil for deep fry or shallow fry.

PREPARATION

  1. Clean and wash the fish thoroughly by discarding unwanted parts. You can also remove the bone by slitting in the centre. Squeeze out the excess water by pressing with hands
  2. Now spread the cleaned fish on a kitchen towl ,cover it and press it to remove excess water .
  3. Keep a heavy object on it for sometime.
  4. Make a marinade of besan + chilli pwdr + turmeric pwdr + garam masala pwdr + ginger garlic paste + vinegar + salt .
  5. Coat the fish with the marinade and keep aside for some time inside the fridge .

METHOD

Make a mixture of rice flour + rava and spread it on the plate.

Heat oil for deep fry or shallow fry .

Take each fish and coat it well on all sides with the rava mixture.

Either deep fry or shallow fry it till crispy.

Serve hot by drizzling lemon juice.

NOTES

  1. You can avoid garam masala and ginger garlic paste,but adding garam masala pwdr removes the fishy smell.
  2. The oil should be medium hot not very high or low.
  3. It has to be served hot, So fry it when you are ready to eat.
  4. Deep fried taste awsome and also they are very crispy .
