CRISPY FRIED BABY CORN / GOLDEN FRIED BABY CORN

Baby corn (also known as young corn, cornlets or baby sweetcorn) is a cereal grain taken from corn (maize) harvested early while the stalks are still small and immature. It typically is eaten whole – cob included – in contrast to mature corn, whose cob is too tough for human consumption.

Crispy Baby Corn is a quick Indo-Chinese recipe that is easy to prepare . The batter coated baby corns are deep fried  in hot oil until golden brown.

CRISPY FRIED BABY CORN RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

  • Baby corn – 1 pkt [ 12 nos]
  • Maida – ¼ cup
  • Corn flour – 2 tbsp
  • Rice four – 1tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Red chilli pwdr -1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Baking pwdr – ¼ tsp [optional ]
  • Oil to deep fry

PREPARATION

Wash and wipe the baby corn well till dry. Chop it into one inch piece .[I chopped it in a slanting manner ]

CRISPY FRIED BABY CORN RECIPE

METHOD

Take all the flours + chilli pwdr + ginger garlic paste + salt , add water and make a thick smooth batter.

Add the chopped baby corn in it and mix it well .

Keep aside for sometime or continue .

Heat oil in a deep pan .

Slide each piece in the hot oil one by one .

Don’t overcrowd the pan .

Stir and fry all over till golden .

Serve hot with chilli sauce / ketchup or any dips .

NOTES

  1. Instead of chilli pwdr ,v can add pepper pwdr .
  2. V can add mixed herbs /oregano .
  3. Instead of baking pwdr ,v can add a generous pinch of baking soda .
  4. You can give a Indian version by making batter of besan + little rice four .
