Curd coconut chutney

CURD COCONUT CHUTNEY

INGREDIENTS

  • Freshly grated coconut – ½ cup
  • Roasted gram dal /chutney dal /daria dal – ¼ cup
  • Green chilly – 2 or as required
  • Garlic – 2 small
  • Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
  • Fresh curd – 4 or 5 tbsp [ not sour ]
  • Water – ¼ or ½  cup [ as per the consistency you want ]
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tsp
  • Broken red chilli – 1
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Mustard seeds+ urad dal – 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida- a pinch

METHOD

Take the coconut + green chilli + garlic + daria dal + coriander leaves + salt and grind it to a fine paste.

Add curd and blend [ pulse beat ] again.

Transfer to a serving bowl.

Heat oil in a small pan,add mustard seed + urad dal and let it crackle.

Add broken red chilli + curry leaves + asafoetida ,stir fry.

Add this tempering over the chutney and mix well.

Serve curd chutney as side dish for any SouthIndian breakfast.

NOTES

  1. Instead of garlic ,u can add a small piece of ginger .
  2. Use fresh curd ,not sour.
