Dalia upma recipe
DALIYA / DALIA /LAPSI/BROKEN WHEAT/ BULGUR VEG UPMA
Bulgur is a whole grain made from cracked wheat. It’s packed with vitamins, minerals and fiber. Fiber-rich foods like bulgur may reduce chronic disease risk, promote weight loss and improve digestion and gut health. It’s easy to cook and can be added to many dishes, including salads, stews and breads
Made with broken wheat, Dalia is easy to digest and is full of nutrition. Dalia, Broken wheat is one good source of magnesium amongst the cereal category which helps to maintain a regular heartbeat. .It is high in fibre and is believed to be one of the best foods for weight loss. Dalia can be made in several ways and is one of the healthiest options for breakfast/lunch and dinner.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup – broken wheat
- 1 – small onion finely chopped
- 1 or 2 – green chilli finely chopped [as per taste]
- 1 – tsp grated ginger
- 1 – cup finely chopped veges [cauliflower, beans, carrot, potato , boiled peas ,corn ]
- 1 tsp – mustard seeds + urad dal
- Few curry leaves
- 2 tbsp – finely chopped coriander leaves.
- Salt as per taste
- sugar – 1/2 tsp
- 1 tbsp – oil + ghee
- Lemon juice – ½ tsp
METHOD
Heat oil in a cooker .
Add mustard seeds + urad let it splutter.
Add curry leaves + onion + green chilli + ginger .
Fry for a minute.
Now add all the veges and fry for 2 minutes.
Add the dalia and mix well .
Stir fry for a min .
Add coriander leaves + sugar + salt and mix well .
Now add 3 cup of water. and mix well.
Cover and preesure cook upto 1 whistle .
Allow the pressure to release on own .
Open and fluff it.
Add lemon juice and mix well. [ optional ]
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
NOTES
- With soaking the ratio of daliya and water is 1 : 1 1/2 or 2 cup.
- If you want more soft , you can add upto 31/2 cup water .
- Urad dal is optional , you can also add chana dal for tempering.
- You can garnish with fried cashewnut.
- Veges have to be finely chopped.
- You can aslo make pulav in similar way just by adding ginger garlic paste + whole garam masala + turmeric.
