Doll cake recipe

DOLL CAKE

                                                                                                                                              

MAIN INGREDIENT

  • Round Cake base and dome shape cake of any flavour.  [Refer to any of my cake recipes – Cake recipes  ]
  • Barbie doll or any small plastic doll easily available in cake baking material shops
  • Edible decoratives
  • Whip cream

INGREDIENTS FOR THE WHIPPING CREAM . refer here – How to do icing on cakes 

  • Tropolite cream – 2 cup
  • Vanilla essence – 1 tsp
  • Food colour of your choice
  • Half bowl of ice cubes
  • Electric beater [compulsory]
  • Piping bag with star or any nozzle of your choice

METHOD

In a wide bowl take the ice cubes.

Place another bowl with whipping cream over it.

Beat for 4 to 5  mins till it becomes thick.

Divide it into 2 or 3 parts .

Mix in the essence and colour of your choice in each part. Keep one part plain white just to cover.

Beat again each part for 3-4 mins till soft peaks form.

Freeze it for 30 mins. [ Don’t over beat the cream it will lead to cracking while applying]

cream for icing

INGREDIENTS FOR THE SUGAR SYRUP

  • Water – 1/4 cup
  • Sugar – 1/4 cup
  • Vanilla essence – 1/2 tsp

METHOD

Boil sugar + water for few seconds to make a thin syrup.

Add the essence and mix well.

How to fill the piping bag.

METHOD FOR ASSEMBLING THE DOLL – REFER TO THE VIDEO BELOW –

Bake 2 cakes one regular round one and other a dome shaped.[ v get dome shape moulds – but I used my kadai and baked the cake in cooker ]

Cut and remove the irregular parts of the cake base so that the top and bottom sides are flat. [ except for the dome part ]

Slice each cake into 2 or 3 parts .

Take the base of the round cake .

Sprinkle the sugar syrup all over the cake [it should not become soggy or wet]

Now spread a layer of icing .

Place another part and place it on top of the icing .

Repeat the process with all parts.

On the top to give a pointy edge ,you can place a half cup cake .

Now spread the icing all over and around the cake like a dome .

Refrigerate it for some time .

Now fill the coloured whipped cream in  the piping bags with different nozzles .

Start decorating as per your choice .

Once the cake is done again refrigerate it for sometime .

DOLL CAKE WITH ONE SINGLE BASE – once I tried a doll cake with single base .Sorry due to bad weather my whip cream melted – but still I am sharing with u

ASSEMBLING THE CAKE

Take the base .

Cut it into 2 halves

Again cut one of the half into 2 portions as seen in the pic [ one small and one big ]. Now you have three portion of the base.

Take the bigger portion .

Apply the white cream of 1 inch thickness on top.

Keep the other piece in the centre of the bigger piece.

Again apply the white cream of 1 inch thickness on top.

Take the third small piece and make a hole in the centre depending on the kind of doll you have.

I had to just insert a stick in the centre and place the doll on it.

Place this third piece of cake on top.

Now cover the complete cake with the white cream.

Refrigerate the cake for an hour or more.

Using the star mould in the piping bag filled with any other colour cream , make small small circles and complete the whole doll.

If you have a undressed doll then using the cream cover the body of the doll in a decorative way which will look like her top.[ as shown in the video above]

In the front of the doll cake , it has a layered circular dress and behind it will be uneven triangle shape but you can decorate it .

Decorate as per your wish.

Place the decoratives here and there on the cake also sprinkle some colourful sprinklers here and there.

Keep it in the fridge for 2-3 hours before serving.

NOTE

I have used fresh cream for icing you can also use butter cream. – Buttercream icing

Recipe for butter cream frosting – Beat 1 cup unsalted butter with 3 or 4 cup of powdered and sieved sugar.when the sugar mixes well with the butter , add 1 tbsp of vanilla essence and 3 tbsp of milk or fresh cream and again beat well for few minutes.
