eggless french toast

INGREDIENTS

  • Bread slices – 6
  • Warm Milk – ½ cup
  • Custard pwdr – 2 tbsp
  • Sugar – 2 ½ tbsp or as per taste
  • Vanilla essence – 2 drops
  • Ghee or butter as required

PREPARATION

Boil and cool the milk. [ we need warm milk ]

METHOD

Mix the custard pwdr + sugar + vanilla essence in warm milk and whisk it well to form a lump free thick batter.

Heat a non stick pan and spreads some ghee or butter. [ be careful as butter burns immediately ]

Dip the bread slice in the milk mixture on both sides. [dip for not more than 2 or 3 seconds …..also be quick else the bread will absorb more milk and become soggy ]

Quickly put it on the hot greased tava

Toast it on both the sides on medium low flame till golden .[it takes time as the bread is wet but keep checking so that it does not burn ]

While serving sprinkle little sugar pwdr .[ with sugar pwdr you can also mix little cinnamon or nutmeg powder ] OR drizzle honey /jam /chocolate sauce .

You can also top it with butter while serving .

Serve hot.

NOTES

  1. You can also top it with dryfruits /chocolate sauce caramel sauce.
  2. Instead of vanilla essence you can also rose essence or any essence of your choice.
  3. If you don’t have custard pwdr use cornflour + 1 tsp of vanilla essence or rose essence.
  4. U can use brown bread also.
  5. I prefer ghee instead of butter ,as butter will burn …or take a mixture of butter + ghee .
