IDLI MASALA /KAIMA IDLI RECIPE

Idli masala

INGREDIENTS

  • Leftover idlis – 6
  • Onion chopped – 1
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Cooked green peas – ¼ cup
  • Tomato chopped – 1 deseeded [not soft ]
  • Capsicum chopped – ½
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric pwdr – ¼ tsp
  • Red chilli pwdr – 1 tsp
  • Coriander pwdr – 1 tsp
  • Pav bhaji masala /biryani masala /goda masala /garam masala – 1 tsp [any one ]
  • Tomato ketchup – 1 tbsp
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves to garnish
  • Oil to deep fry

PREPARATION

We can add the idlis plain as it is. Just chop and use. .

OR

Chop the idlis into bite size and deep fry it till golden brown . [ you can dust it with maida or rice flour if it sticks to the pan ] OR u can toast it or shallow fry it or bake it till crisp . Also if frying the idlis then refrigerate the idlis before frying

METHOD

Heat oil in a pan add fennel seeds .

Add curry leaves + onion and fry till translucent .

Add ginger garlic paste and fry till raw smell leaves .

Add tomato , fry till soft and oil separates .

Add capsicum + green peas stir fry for a minute .

Add chilli pwdr + coriander pwdr + garam masala + turmeric + salt + tomato ketchup  and mix well

Add the fried idlis and mix.

****** [ You can serve dry or make it little wet by adding water ]

Drizzle ¼  cup of water and cook for a minute .

Off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve immediately .
