GREEN PEAS MASALA / MATAR MASALA

INGREDIENTS

  • Fresh green peas – 1 cup
  • Onion – 1
  • Tomato – 1
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Red chilli pwdr – 1 or 1 ½ tsp or as per taste
  • Coriander pwdr – 2 tsp
  • Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric pwdr – ¼ tsp
  • Fresh cream – 2 tbsp
  • Sugar – ¼ tsp
  • ketchup – 1 tsp
  • Kasoori methi crushed – ½ tsp
  • Salt to taste

PREPARATION

Grind the onion + tomato + ginger garlic into a fine paste.

METHOD

Heat oil in a cooker ,add jeera and allow it to splutter.

Add onion tomato paste and fry till raw smell leaves and oil separates.

Add chilli pwd ,garam masala ,turmeric and coriander pwdr .

Fry till raw smell leaves.

Add green peas + sugar or ketchup + salt , mix well and cook for a min.

Cover and pressure cook upto 2 whistles till the peas become soft .[ not mushy ]

Once the pressure is released ,open the cooker and add fresh cream and crushed kasoori methir.

Stir well  and transfer it to a serving bowl .

Serve with any roti or rice.

NOTES

  • You can also add potato .
  • Don’t over cook ,the peas have to be whole .
