INGREDIENTS FOR KOFTA
- Grated bottle gourd /ghia / lauki – 2 cup
- Besan – 3 tbsp
- Garam masala pwdr – ¼ tsp
- Chaat masala – ¼ tsp
- Finely chopped coriander leaves
- Red chilli pwdr – ½ tsp
- Turmeric – a pinch
- Salt as per taste
- Oil for shallow or deep frying
Peel the lauki and grate it , avoid the seeds.
Squeeze the extra water from it . [keep the water you can add it in the gravy ]
Now add all the ingredients to the lauki and mix well.
Divide it into equal portions of lemon size.
Roll each portion into ball .
Deep fry the balls till golden brown .
Remove on absorbent paper and keep aside.
INGREDIENTS FOR GRAVY
- Onion chopped – 1
- Tomato chopped – 2
- Ginger garlic paste – 1tbsp
- Red chilli pwdr – 2 tsp or as per taste
- Turmeric pwdr – ½ tsp
- Garam masala – 1 tsp
- Coriander pwdr – 3 tsp
- Cashew – 7 to 8 nos
- Tomato ketchup – 1 tbsp
- Sugar – ¼ tsp
- Salt as per taste
- Kasoori methi pwdr – ½ tsp
- Oil – ½ tbsp
- Butter + oil – 1 ½ tbsp
Heat ½ tbsp oil in a pan.
Add onion and fry till translucent.
Add ginger + garlic paste and fry till raw smell leaves.
Add chilli pwdr + turmeric pwdr + coriander pwdr + garam masala + kasoori methi.
Then add cashew + tomatoes + ketchup + salt + sugar and fry for 1 min.
Add 2 cup water. [water as per the consistency you want ]
Cover it and cook till the tomatoes become soft.
Remove from flame and allow it to completely cool.
Grind or blend it into a fine paste.
Strain it to get a nice smooth sauce. [only the tomato skin will remain ]
In another pan heat 1 tbsp butter + 1/2 tbsp oil.
Pour the sauce and cook for 3 -4 minutes .
Add the fried koftas and mix well .
Off the flame.
Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves and fresh cream .
- You can also add grated paneer to the kofta.
- Instead of deep frying you can fry the kofta in appe pan.
