ICEBERG SALAD RECIPE

The nutrients in iceberg lettuce can help you to meet the standard daily requirements for several vitamins and minerals. They include:

  • Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that helps keep your immune system healthy.
  • Calcium, which keeps bones and teeth strong. It also supports muscle function, nerve function, and blood clotting.
  • Vitamin K, a vitamin that works with calcium to prevent bone fractures. It’s also integral for blood clotting.
  • Vitamin A (as beta carotene), a powerful antioxidant that helps to maintain night vision and eye health. It also supports cell growth.
  • Folate, a B vitamin that helps to make DNA and genetic material. It’s especially important for women who are pregnant or who are planning to become pregnant.
  • Potassium, a mineral that reduces blood pressure by lessening the effects of salt in the diet.
Iceberg lettuce salad

INGREDIENTS

  • Iceberg chopped – 2 cup
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  • Olive oil – 1 tbsp
  • Mayo – 1 tbsp
  • Mixed herbs / oregano – ½ tsp
  • Chilli flakes – ½ tsp
  • Pepper pwdr – ¼ tsp
  • Honey – 1 tbsp
  • Cheese cube chopped –  2
  • Garlic minced – 1 tsp
  • Dryfruits / roasted seeds – 1/4 cup
  • Salt to taste

METHOD

Take all ingredients in a bowl [ except for ice berg ]

Whisk  till all blend together .

Check the taste , if anything required adjust accordingly .

Add the iceberg and toss it or gently mix it with a for or clean hands.

Finally add the cheese cubes and dryfruits.

Chill for sometimes and serve immediately.

NOTES

  1. Add ingredients as per taste .
  2. We can more ingredients like apple / pear / corn / purple cabbage / tomato /bell pepper or any other colourful ingredients to make the salad look colourful.
  3. We can add paneer / boiled chicken / boiled egg also .
  4. We can also add croutons [ bread toasted ]
  5. We can also add chopped dry fruits or roasted seeds .
  6. When shopping for iceberg lettuce, always look for a head of lettuce that has no loose leaves. The leaves should have no brown edges or spots. Many people remove the outer leaves before eating, but this isn’t necessary if you wash them thoroughly. Make sure to keep iceberg lettuce refrigerated and eat it within a few days of purchasing.
