Veg.Langos (Hungarian fried bread)

  1. Langos is Hungarian fried bread, sometimes called Hungarian pizza. It is a favorite street and fair food that has a yeast dough made with mashed potatoes and flour. This snack became part of the country’s cuisine centuries ago when it was introduced by the Turks during their occupation. .Today it’s a popular appetizer or snack usually simply rubbed with garlic and sprinkled with salt. Lángos is a deep fried flat bread made of a dough with flour, yeast, salt and water. It is a popular street food from Hungary and it is also called as the Hungarian Fried Bread. This flatbread is deep fried and topped with sour cream and grated cheese.The cheese melts and oozes down. It is also rubbed with garlic or garlic butter. In olden days, these breads were baked next to the flames of the brick oven and hence got the name Lángos, which means “flame”. However, these days Langos is deep fried and sold at festivals and fairs

Ingredients for Langos

  • 2 bowl Maida
  • 1/2tsp baking powder
  • 2 medium size boiled potatoes
  • 4 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • 2 cheeze cubes

 

For salad

  • 1 bowl grated cabbage
  • 1 bowl grated carrots
  • 1 bowl chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 bowl chopped capsicum
  • 1 bowl coriander leaves
  • 3-4 copped green chillies
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • Salt as per taste

 

For curd dip

  • 1 bowl curd(200gm)
  • 2 cheese cubes
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 2-3 chopped green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • Salt as per taste

 

For Red chilly chutney

  • 100gm fresh red chillies
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1tsp sugar
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 tsp soya sauce
  • 1 tsp tomato ketchup
