BREAD PALAK CHEESE BALLS

INGREDIENTS

  • 15  Bread slices.
  • 1 tbsp ginger + garlic + green chilli paste.
  • 2 or 3 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves.
  • 1 cup thick palak puree  
  • 1 tbsp cornflour for binding.
  • ¼  tsp amchur pwdr
  • 1 tsp chaat masala.
  • 1 tsp kasoori methi pwdr. [must ]
  • salt to taste.
  • Oil either for deep fry or shallow fry.
  • Cheese cubes divided into 4 or 6 pieces  [ use mozzarella cheese for gooey texture ]

PREPARATION

Pluck the leaves and tender stalk .Soak in water for sometime so that soil or dirt loosens .Wash ,rinse in several waters .Drain the excess water by keeping in a colander .Boil it for 4 mins .Allow it to cool and blend it .Dont make it watery .

METHOD

Take each slice of  bread one by one and dip one side of  it in the puree and keep it aside in another plate.

Now smash the bread with hand and knead it like a dough.

While kneading add ginger + garlic + green chilli paste, coriander leaves, cornflour, chaat masala ,  kassori methi pwdr  and salt .

Knead it into a soft and smooth dough .[ not very thick ]

If the dough is hard ,adjust by adding more puree or drizzle few drops of water .

Divide the dough  into small balls of equal size .[ small lemon size ]

Take 1 ball in your palms and flatten it ,place a piece of cheese in the centre .

Bring the edges in the centre and close it .

Roll it into a smooth ball .

Keep it in fridge for sometime or continue .

Palak cheese balls

Heat oil in a deep pan .

Slide in the balls and fry it from all sides .

Remove on absorbent paper and serve it as starters / snacks with ketchup or chutney.

VARIATION –

Instead of keeping a piece of cheese in the centre , We can grate the cheese –  add chilli flakes + herbs and mix well .make balls of it and place it in the centre .

NOTES

  1. You can deep fry or shallow fry till they turn light golden brown  in colour.
  2. Make small balls .
  3. With 10 breads you can make 20 mini balls.
  4. You can make  the balls and keep it ready in fridge and fry it when ever required.
  5. Serve hot with sauce for breakfast, starters ,tiffin box ,snacks etc.
  6. Kids loved it.
  7. Instead of cheese ,v can use paneer .
  8. Taste very much like hara bhara kebab.
