Grilled idli sandwich

GRILLED IDLI SANDWICH

INGREDIENTS

  • Leftover idlis – 3 or 4
  • Pizza sauce as required
  • Ketchup
  • Grated cheese or cheese slice
  • Any stuffing of your choice

****  IDLI RECIPE –  Batter for soft idli and dosa

PIZZA STUFFING I USED

  • Capsicum – 1/4 cup
  • Onion finely chopped -1/4 cup
  • Tomato finely chopped – 1/4 cup [deseeded
  • Boiled corn – 2 tbsp [ optional ]
  • Olive oil – 1 tsp
  • Ketchup – 2 tsp
  • Chilli flakes – 1/4 tsp or as req
  • Mixed herbs- 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste

PREPARATION OF STUFFING

  1. Heat a pan and add capsicum + onion + tomato + corn + oil .
  2. Stir fry for a minute .
  3. **** we don’t have to cook the veges .
  4. After a minute add salt + chilli flakes + oregano + ketchup.
  5. Mix well and off the flame and allow it to cool .
  6. Stuffing is ready to use .
  7. **** This stuffing can be used for bread sandwich and as pizza toppings

METHOD

Slice the idli from the centre into 2 slices as shown it the pic.

Apply pizza sauce on one slice and ketchup on other .

Spread a layer of the stuffing .

Top it with cheese and close it with the other slice .

Butter it on both the sides and grill it

If you have a electric grill toaster use that . Else I have used my grill pan .

Heat the grill pan ,once hot place the buttered sandwich on it ,

Place a lid or plate over the sandwich and place a heavy object .

Grill on medium flame till done on both sides  .

Once done serve it with any dips  / sauces /chutneys etc .

NOTES

  1. Here I have used pizza stuffing but you can try different stuffings .
  2. You can try with Potato filling / only cheese / sauted mushroom /chicken / egg etc.
  3. We can try placing a patties in between and your idli burger is ready .
