TUVAR LILVA IN GREEN GRAVY / HARE TUVAR KI SABJI /TUVAR DANA POTATO GRAVY  /FRESH GREEN PIGEON PEAS

Lilva tuvar in green gravy / hare tuvar ki sabji /tuvar dana potato gravy /fresh green pigeon peas

INGREDIENTS

  • Fresh shelled green tuver dana – 1 cup
  • Potato cubes – 1
  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped – 2 cup
  • Green chilli – 3 or 4
  • Fresh green garlic with leaves – 8
  • Ginger – a small piece
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Jeera – 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida – 1 generous pinch
  • Onion finely chopped – 1
  • Tomato finely chopped or puree – 1
  • Kitchen king masala – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric – ¼ tsp
  • Jaggery – a small piece [ optional ]
  • Salt to taste

PREPARATION

Make a fine paste of green chilli + garlic  + ginger + coriander leaves .

METHOD

Heat oil in a cooker ,add jeera + asafoetida and let it splutter.

Add onions and fry till translucent .

Add green paste and fry till oil separates.

Add tomato + salt and fry till soft .

Add kitchen king masala + turmeric + jaggery and stir well .

Add tuver dana + potato and mix well.

Stir fry for a min .

Add 1 ¼ cup water and mix well .

Pressure cook upto 3 or 4 whistles.

Once pressure releases ,open and mix well.

If it is watery ,simmer for sometimes till desired consistency .

While serving drizzle few drops of lemon juice and serve few onion rings.

NOTES

  1. As green garlic were in season , I used it .If you don’t have ,you can use regular garlic.
  2. Instead of kitchen king masala ,you can use ½ tsp garam masala pwdr.
  3. Cleaning tuver is a big task ,do it a day before and keep .
  4. We can also make kachori and parathas from these .
  5. Same recipe goes for green peas.
  6. Which ever recipe you try with green peas [matar]you can replace peas with tuvar dana.
