Tzatziki, cacık or tarator is a dip, soup, or sauce found in the cuisines of Southeast Europe and the Middle East. It is made of salted strained yogurt or diluted yogurt mixed with cucumbers, garlic, salt, olive oil, sometimes with vinegar or lemon juice, and herbs such as dill, mint, parsley and thyme.

Tzatziki sauce recipe is a traditional Greek recipe that is a popular dish in restaurants found in Greece.
It’s a Mediterranean dish that’s immensely popular in North America,
INGREDIENTS
1 cup grated cucumber [ avoid the seed part ]
1 cup plain Greek yogurt OR hung curd
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp finely chopped fresh mint leaves
1 tbsp finely chopped dill leaves
11/2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp finely minced garlic
salt to taste
PREPARATION
This recipe is made with greek yoghurt . I have used regular curd .Hang 3 cups of curd in a muslin clothe till all extra water drains away .
Squeeze tightly and remove the excess water from the grated cucumber .
METHOD
Take the cucumber in a mixing bowl .
Add the hung curd and all the other ingredients one by one .
Mix well , so that all ingredients blend well together.
Keep aside for 5 to 10 mins.
Serve immediately or refrigerate for some times before serveing .
*while serving you can sprinkle pepper /chilli flakes for spiciness as per taste.
Serve with olive oil drizzled over top.
Tzatziki is often served with fresh pita bread , grilled meat ,kebabs / sandwich / burger /
NOTES
Avoid the seeds in cucumber .
You can refrigerate and use this sauce for 3 to 4 days.
