CHEESE CHILLI TOAST RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
- Bread – 4 slices
- Capsicum – 1 big very finely chopped
- Processed cheese + mozzarella cheese – ¾ cup [or any cheese]
- Butter
- Green chilli – 1 chopped [optional if making for kids]
- Olive oil – 1 tbsp
- Garlic – 1 finely chopped
- Chilli flakes – ½ tsp
- Pepper pwdr – ½ tsp
- Salt – just half a pinch
- Mixed herbs or oregano pwdr
- Sauce or any dips to serve
PREPARATION –
- Preheat the oven at 180*
- Take cheese + capsicum + chilli + olive oil + garlic + pepper pwdr + mixed herbs in bowl and mix all the ingredients well.
METHOD
Toast the bread on both the sides.
Apply butter on top.
Evenly spread the cheese mixture above the butter layer.
Sprinkle the chilli flakes.
Bake it in the oven for 6 – 8 mins at 180*[or till the cheese melts completely]
Serve hot with any sauce or dips.
VARIATION –
Instead of oven you can toast it on tava [pan] also.
While toasting the bread , toast one side fully and one side half.
Now apply butter and spread the cheese on the fully toasted side.
Cover and cook on low flame till the cheese melts.
Be careful ,see that the bottom doesn’t burn.
NOTES
- If you go by the name it has to be a mixture of just cheese and green chilli.
- I didn’t add salt.
- You can add more veggies like mushroom , corn, tomatoes , coloured capsicum, onion etc.
- You can use any bread – brown bread, garlic bread ,multigrain bread.
- You can use any cheese.
- Avoid green chilli if making for kids just add pepper pwdr.
- Instead of garlic you can try ginger.
- Be careful while adding salt as butter and cheese already contain salt, its ok if you omit it.
- For Indian taste you can add finely chopped coriander leaves.
- You can stuff the cheese mixture between 2 breads and grill it or make sandwich toast.
- The same mixture can be microwave for 30 secs till the cheeses melts and applied over Monaco biscuit or any salt biscuits and served .
