Crispy corn pakoda
CRISPY LONAVALA CORN PAKODA
Fried corn fritters made with besan (gram flour), sweet corn, spices . These crispy and tasty corn fritters are a regular snack during monsoons.
This is a kind of bhajiya you may not find so easily in any other part of this country. Apart from Lonavala, this bhajiya or fritter is also popular in some parts of Andhra Pradesh.
INGREDIENTS
- Corn – 2
- Besan – 1 OR 11/2 cup or more or as required
- Rice flour – 2 tbsp
- Corn flour – 1 tbsp
- Finely chopped coriander leaves – ¼ cup
- Finely chopped green chilli – 1
- Red chilli pwdr – as required
- Salt to taste
- Oil to deep fry
METHOD
Slice the kernels from the corn with a sharp knife from all sides as shown in the video.
Once done try scraping the leftover from the corn .
Take it in a mixing bowl ,add all other ingredients except oil and mix well with clean hands .
While mixing apply pressure with your hands .
There is no need to add water .while mashing the corn leaves juices which is enough.
Still if required drizzle few tsp of water if required and mix well .
Heat oil in a deep pan .
Now take small small portions and drop it in hot oil .
Fry on medium oil till crisp and golden by turning on all sides.
Takes time to cook as the corn is raw .
Serve hot with any sauces / chutneys .
Do make sure you grab a bite of corn bhajiya along with your hot cup of kadak chai.

NOTES
- This corn I tasted on my visit to Lonavala’s Lions point .It was really very crispy.Got a chance to shoot a video .Tried it at home making few changes .Hope you all like .
- If the flour is more then you may need to sprinkle little wate r.
- Instead of red chilli pwdr , we can add 2 tsp of green chilli ginger garlic paste
- Kids loved it .
- I did not add water.
- We can also add onions to these pakodas .
- The bhajiya can also be enjoyed with some tomato ketchup
