DADPE POHE
Dadpe Pohe Recipe is a delicious Maharashtrian evening snack recipe made with flattened rice. The poha or flattened rice is not cooked in this recipe, instead is mixed with raw onions, tomato, grated carrot and turns soft with the juices released from the veggies. The poha is then finished with a flavourful tadka with mustard seeds, asafoetida, peanuts and curry leaves. The thin variety of poha or flattened rice is used for this recipe. Dadpe Pohe Recipe is spicy, sweet and makes for a perfect evening snack served along with a cup of Hot Ginger Tea.
INGREDIENTS
- Thin poha – 2 cup
- Onion very finely chopped – 1
- Freshly grated coconut – 2 or 3 tbsp
- Finely chopped green chilli – 1 or 2 or as per taste
- Sugar – 1 tsp
- Lemon juice – 2 tsp
- Finely chopped coriander leaves – 2 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil- 1 tbsp
- Mustard seed – 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves – few
- Raw peanuts- 2 tbsp
PREPARATION
Dry roast the poha for a minute to avoid stickiness .
*** you can also use regular poha ,but sprinkle 3 or 4 tbsp of water to it and use.
METHOD
Take a mixing bowl with onion + green chilli + coriander leaves + coconut + salt + sugar + lemon juice.
Mix it well with clean hands ,apply little pressure ,so that juice is released from onion .
Now add the poha and mix well. Cover and keep aside for 2 or 3 mins.
In a pan heat oil ,add mustard seed and let it crackle .
Add the peanuts and fry till golden and crisp.
Add the curry leaves and off the flame.
Pour this tempering over the poha and mix gently with a spoon .
Poha is ready to serve .
Garnish with coconut /coriander leaves /sev /raw onion /pomegranate .
NOTES
- You can also add finely chopped tomato or mango .
- While tempering you can add 1/4 tsp of jeera and a pinch of asafoetida.
