INGREDIENTS

  • Left over or fresh khaman dhokla crumbled – 2 cup
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  • Sesame seeds – 1 tsp
  • Onion very finely chopped – 1
  • Finely grated ginger – ½ tsp
  • Green chilli chopped – 1  or as required
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Freshly finely chopped coriander leaves
  • Grated fresh coconut – 2 or 3 tbsp
  • Very fine Nylon sev
  • Pomegranate seeds – 2 tbsp
  • Sugar – ½ tsp
  • Lemon juice as required
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Salt to taste

PREPARATION

Crumble the dhokla with clean hands .

METHOD

Heat oil in a pan , add mustard seeds and let it crackle .

Add sesame seeds and fry for few seconds.[ don’t burn it ]

Add onion + green chilli + ginger + curry leaves and fry till translucent .

Add in the crumbled dhokla + sugar + salt and mix well .

Cover and cook for a minute on low flame. [you can sprinkle few drops of water if you want ,  if the dhokla is too dry ]

Drizzle few drops of lemon juice as required .

Finely garnish with coconut + coriander leaves  + sev + pomegranate seeds .

Serve hot with chutneys.

NOTES

  1. Instead of sesame you can use chana dal + urad dal .
  2. Instead of green chilli you can use red chilli.
  3. Drizzle few drops of water for moist texture.
  4. Just like sooji upma you can add other ingredients like tomato ,finely chopped beans ,carrot and peas.
