Grilled idli sandwich
GRILLED IDLI SANDWICH
INGREDIENTS
- Leftover idlis – 3 or 4
- Pizza sauce as required
- Ketchup
- Grated cheese or cheese slice
- Any stuffing of your choice
**** IDLI RECIPE – Batter for soft idli and dosa
PIZZA STUFFING I USED
- Capsicum – 1/4 cup
- Onion finely chopped -1/4 cup
- Tomato finely chopped – 1/4 cup [deseeded
- Boiled corn – 2 tbsp [ optional ]
- Olive oil – 1 tsp
- Ketchup – 2 tsp
- Chilli flakes – 1/4 tsp or as req
- Mixed herbs- 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
PREPARATION OF STUFFING
- Heat a pan and add capsicum + onion + tomato + corn + oil .
- Stir fry for a minute .
- **** we don’t have to cook the veges .
- After a minute add salt + chilli flakes + oregano + ketchup.
- Mix well and off the flame and allow it to cool .
- Stuffing is ready to use .
- **** This stuffing can be used for bread sandwich and as pizza toppings
METHOD
Slice the idli from the centre into 2 slices as shown it the pic.
Apply pizza sauce on one slice and ketchup on other .
Spread a layer of the stuffing .
Top it with cheese and close it with the other slice .
Butter it on both the sides and grill it
If you have a electric grill toaster use that . Else I have used my grill pan .
Heat the grill pan ,once hot place the buttered sandwich on it ,
Place a lid or plate over the sandwich and place a heavy object .
Grill on medium flame till done on both sides .
Once done serve it with any dips / sauces /chutneys etc .
NOTES
- Here I have used pizza stuffing but you can try different stuffings .
- You can try with Potato filling / only cheese / sauted mushroom /chicken / egg etc.
- We can try placing a patties in between and your idli burger is ready .
