Mushroom Burji
MUSHROOM BURJI
INGREDIENTS
- Button mushroom – 1 pkt
- Boiled peas – ¼ cup [ optional ]
- Onion finely chopped – 1
- Tomato finely chopped – 1
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Garlic paste or crushed – 1 tsp
- Green chilli chopped – 1
- Red chilli pwdr – ½ tsp or as per taste [ we are also adding green chilli ]
- Garam masala pwdr – ¼ tsp
- Pav bhaji masala – 1 tsp
- Turmeric pwdr – ¼ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Finely chopped coriander leaves for garnish
PREPARATION
Clean ,wash rinse and soak the mushroom in water for sometime .[ soaking helps to loosen the soil stuck on it ]. Rub and rinse well . Slice it finely.
METHOD
Heat oil in a pan ,add onions and fry till light brown .
Add garlic and fry till raw smell leaves.
Add tomato + salt and cook till oil separates .
Add chilli pwdr + garam masala pwdr + turmeric + pav bhaji masala and fry for sometime .
Add the mushroom and mix well.
Add the peas and mix well.
Cook on medium flame .
The mushrooms will sweat .[ leave water]
Cook till the mushroom shrinks and complete water evaporates .
Garnish with coriander leaves.
Serve as a side dish for any Indian bread .
VARIATIONS –
We can add kasoori methi pwdr in the end .
Also v can add 2 tbsp of cream + 2 tbsp water – to make it into a semi liquid rich gravy .
NOTES
- Don’t add too much of masala pwdrs as the mushroom shrinks in quantity .
- V don’t have to add big pieces of mushroom .As it is burji ,slice it finely .
- Green peas is optional ,I had some so added.
- U can also add paneer / egg .
