Kerala coconut chutney for idli and dosa
Coconut chutney is a Southern Indian chutney-side-dish and condiment, a common in the Indian subcontinent. The condiment is made with coconut pulp ground with other ingredients such as green chillies and coriander. It is served with dosa, idli and vada.
Fresh coconut, ginger, shallots, green chilies, and tempered spices is perfect as a side dish for dosa, idli, and vada.
Kerala coconut chutney for idli and dosa
INGREDIENTS
Grated Coconut – 1 cup
Shallots – 4
Ginger grated – 1 inch size
Green chilli – 2 or 3 or as per taste
Salt to taste
Water – ½ cup
Oil – 1 tbsp [ coconut oil ]
Shallots chopped – 3
Red chilli – 2
Curry leaves – few
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Urad dal – ½ tsp
*Use freshly grated coconut .

METHOD
Take coconut + ginger + shallots + green chilli + salt in a mixie jar and grind . Add ½ cup water and grind into a smooth paste.
Transfer it into a bowl.Heat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds and urad dal and let them crackle .
Then add shallots, red chilly and curry leaves. Fry until crispy and golden brown. Pour it over on chutney curry and give a mix .
Serve as an accompaniment for southindian breakfast .
