Thai raw papaya salad
THAI RAW PAPAYA SALAD

INGREDIENTS
- Raw Papaya (grated) – 1 cup
- Leeks OR spring onion greens (chopped) – 2 tbsp
- Spring onion sliced – 2 tbsp
- Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
- Mint or basil leaves – 2 tbsp
- Lime juice – To taste
- Honey – 1 tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Dry chilly flakes – ½ tsp
- Peanuts without skin ( roasted ) – ½ cup
- Garlic minced – 1 tbsp
- Soya sauce – 1 ½ tsp
- Chilli sauce – 1 tsp
- Tomato cubes – 1 OR cherry tomato -few
- Green chilli for garnish
- Fried garlic slices for garnish
PREPARATION
Dry roast the peanuts .Allow it cool .Discard the skin .Grind it coarsely.
METHOD
Mix well all the salad ingredients one by one as shown in the video.
Mash it with a pounder .
**** This is a Thai recipe – in Thailand they mash it with a wooden mortar and pestle.
Add coarsely ground peanuts while serving. Garnish with green chilly.
Refrigerate for few hrs .
Serve chilled .
NOTES
- In Thailand they add fish sauce.
- Garnish it with fried garlic slices for more flavour.
