Besan waffles
BESAN WAFFLES / CHEELA WAFFLES
INGREDIENTS
- Besan /gram flour – 1 cup
- Fine sooji /rava – 2 tbsp
- Curd – 2 tbsp
- Finely chopped onions – 2 tbsp
- Finely chopped coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
- Red chilli pwdr – 1/4 tsp
- Turmeric pwdr – a generous pinch
- Ginger garlic paste – 1/4 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Baking soda – 1/8 tsp
- Oil – 1 tsp for the batter
PREPARATION
- Take all the above ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix well .
- Now slowly add water and make a batter of medium consistency .
- Keep the batter aside for 30 mins .
METHOD
Heat the waffle maker .
Spray the waffle mould with oil .
Once it becomes hot , pour 2 tbsp batter in each .
Close the waffle maker and cook for 5 – 8 minutes till golden and fluffy .
Check after 5 mins so that it does not burn.
Carefully remove the waffle .
Serve it with green chutney / sauce / dips .
VARIATIONS
- You can use cheela batter or even kothimbir vadi batter . Rava has to be added to give a texture .
- You can use idli / dosa batter also for making waffles – Pour the batter top it with onion + coriander leaves + grated carrot etc
- For spinach / palak besan waffles – Add finely chopped spinach or make the batter with spinach puree .
