Easy fish curry recipe for bachelors
EASY FISH CURRY RECIPE FOR BACHELORS
INGREDIENTS
- Fish – 250 or 300 grms
- Shallots – 8 or 1 small onion finely chopped
- Green chilli slit – 1
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Tomato – 1 finely chopped – 1 [ optional ]
- Kashmiri red chilli pwdr – 2 tsp or as per taste
- Turmeric – ¼ tsp
- Coriander pwdr – 11/2 tsp
- Jeera pwdr – ½ tsp
- Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
- Methi seeds – 1/8 tsp
- Oil – 1 or 2 tbsp
- Tamarind – small lemon size
- Salt to taste
- Curry leaves – few

METHOD
Soak tamarind in 1 cup hot water for 10 mins and extract juice .
Clean , cut , wash , rinse the fish well .
Heat oil in a pan .
Add mustard seeds + methi and let it cracke.
Add onion + chilli + curry leaves .
Stir fry till translucent .
- If adding tomatoes , add now and fry till soft .
Lower the flame and add masala pwdrs and mix well.
Stir fry for few seconds.
Add tamarind extract and bring it to a boil on high flame .
Let it boil for 2 mins.
Now add 11/2 cup water and bring it to a boil.
Once it starts boiling , slide in the fish and give a mix.
Let it cook on high flame.
Once it starts boiling cover partly and cook for 12 – 15 mins.
In between give a gentle mix.
*Cooking time for fish as per the size of the fish will be 15 to 20 mins.
Once the gravy thickens , off the flame and garnish with curry leaves.
Let the curry rest for minimum 1 hrs before you serve .
Then serve with plain rice .I served with plain rice with fish fry .
NOTES –
- I have used kashmiri chilli pwdr for colour , you can add any red chilli pwdr adjust accordingly .
- Adding tomato gives consistency to the curry .
