EGG STEAMED IN IDLI COOKER

Eggs are rich sources of selenium, vitamin D, B6, B12 and minerals such as zinc, iron and copper. Egg yolks contain more calories and fat than the whites. They are a source of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K and lecithin, the compound that enables emulsification in recipes such as hollandaise or mayonnaise.

Hard-boiled eggs are a low-calorie, nutrient-dense food. They’re an excellent source of high-quality protein and rich in B vitamins, zinc, calcium and other important nutrients and antioxidants like choline, lutein and zeaxanthin.0

Steamed egg masala curry

 INGREDIENTS

  • Egg – 4
  • Oil to grease
  • Salt ,  pepper and chilli pwdr as needed
  • very finely chopped coriander leaves + onion for garnish
  • Idli steamer

METHOD

Keep the steamer with water to boil .

Grease the idli moulds well .

Break open the eggs in the mould .

Sprinkle salt all over the egg .

Place the idli stand in the steamer.

Cover and steam for 12 mins till done.

Remove the stand and carefully demould the eggs.

Sprinkle pepper pwdr / chilli pwdr / coriander leaves / onion and serve .

VARITAIONS

  1. We can add these steamed eggs into the gravy and make egg gravy .
  2. For starters – heat 1 tsp oil add masala pwdr of your choice like red chilli pwdr / pav bhaji masala pwdr / turmeric etc or any masalas .stir fry for few seconds .Place the egg in the pan . Mix gently till the maslas get coated over the steamed eggs .
  3. These can be used for stuffing in sandwiches also .
