HEALTHY DAL SOUP

INGREDIENTS

  • Moong dal – ¼ cup
  • Finely miced ginger and garlic – 1 tsp
  • Thinly sliced onions – 1 small
  • Butter /ghee + oil – 2 tsp
  • Cinnamon – small piece
  • Clove – 1
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
  • Pepper pwdr as required
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 cup water

PREPARATION

Clean ,wash rinse and soak dal for 15 to 20 mins

METHOD

Heat a cooker with butter + oil .

Add cinnamon and clove and fry .[don’t burn ]

Immediately add onion and fry till light brown .

Add ginger garlic and stir fry ,colour should not change .

Add the dal and mix well.

Stir and cook for a min .

Add 1 cup water and salt .

Pressure cook till dal is over cooked /mushy .

Once done open the cooker after the pressure releases .

Fish out the clove and cinnamon and discard it .

Now add 2 cups of water and blend while.

*** We can add 1 cup of maggi magic cubes stock or home made stock .

Boil the soup for a min and off the flame .Adjust salt if required .

We have to boil as we have added water .

Off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves .

While serving sprinkle pepper pwdr .

Health dal soup is ready to serve .

How to prepare stock at home –  [ adust quantity as per your requirement ]

Boil 7 cup of water , add chopped  onion + carrot + potato or any other veg. Boil it till the stock reduces to 5 cups. Strain the stock and use it .

OR

Use maggi magic veg or non veg magic cubes . Dissolve it in hot water and use it .

NOTES

  1. Y not add chilli flakes .
  2. Butter enhances the flavour .
  3. Let it be of medium consistency not very thick or very thin.
  4. You can prepare stock at home or use maggi magic cubes to prepare the stock.
  5. Stock enhances the flavour of soups .
  6. I have not added tomato or it would just taste like a dal curry.
