Raw banana masala stir fry
RAW BANANA MASALA STIR FRY
INGREDIENTS
- Raw banana – 2
- Turmeric pwdr – a generous pinch
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Urad dal – ½ tsp
- Onion – 1 finely chopped
- Red chilli broken – 3 or 4
- Curry leaves – few
- Asafoetida – a generous pinch
- Chilli pwdr – 1 tsp or as per taste
- Sambar or garam masala pwdr – ¾ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Freshly grated coconut – 2 tbsp
- Coriander leaves to garnish
PREPARATION
- Peel the banana and chop it into small cubes .Immediately put it in water to avoid discoloration.
- Boil it in water with little salt and turmeric for 5 to 7 minutes till it is done . Don’t overcook it . It should retain its shape.
- Once done drain the water completely and keep aside.
METHOD
Heat oil in a pan ,add mustard seeds + urad dal and let it crackle .
Add curry leaves + red chilli and stir fry .
Add onion and fry till lighy brown.
Lower the flame .
Add garam masala + red chilli pwdr +salt and fry .
Add the cooked banana and mix well.
Stir fry for 1 or 2 minute , till it is well coated with the masalas and gets roasted.
Add coconut , mix well and stir fry for few seconds and off the flame .
Transfer to a serving dish .
Serve hot as a side dish .
