Green Moong Dal is a perfect sweet treat halwa. It’s something that is loved by everyone and a traditional halwa recipe. It has a soft, sweet, and moist texture.
Moong Dal Halwa is a traditional Indian dessert, usually made for special occasions such as weddings and religious celebrations.
It is made using split green mung beans (green gram), ghee, and flavoured with cardamom. The result is a delicious rich, melt in the mouth, fragrant dessert which is a perfect ending to any Indian meal. Green moong is easy digest.
INGREDIENTS
Moong dal flour – 1/2 cup
Sugar – 1/2 cup
Ghee – 6 tbsp
Full fat milk – 2 cup
Cardamom pwdr – ½ tsp
Dry fruits as per choice
Few saffron strands soaked in 1 tbsp milk .[ optional ]
PREPARATION
Wipe ½ cup dal
Dry roast it for 5 mins.
Off the flame and allow to cool .
Grind into fine powder . We need ½ cup flour .
METHOD
Heat a pan with ghee.
Add the flour .
Stir and fry for 5 mins .
Add the milk + saffron mixture and mix well.
See that there are now lumps.
Cover and cook for 3 to 4 mins till the mixture thickens a bit .
Add sugar and mix well .
Cook till ghee separates and the mixture starts leaving the pan .
Off the flame and garnish with dry fruits.
NOTE
Adjust ghee and sugar as per choice.
Sugar can be replaced with jaggery.
Instead of split moong dal , we can use yellow moong dal / whole moong dal /chana dal .
