SANDHAN RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

  • raw rice – 1 cup
  • coconut – ½
  • sugar – ½ – ¾ cup
  • pinch of salt

PREPARATION

  1. Clean ,wash rinse and remove the excess water from the rice.
  2. Spread on a clean cloth under a fan.
  3. Let it dry for minimum 1 hr.
  4. Once it dries , there should be no moisture. The rice should be completely dried.
  5. Transfer the rice to mixie jar .pulse beat into coarse pwdr [ not fine ]
  6. Sieve the powder to get fine rice rava .
  7. You will now have 1 fine rava and a coarse rava .
  8. Now take the coconut add ¼ cup water and grind .extract the thick milk .
  9. Now again add ¼ cup water and extract the thin milk .

METHOD

Take the thin milk + salt in a pan and keep it on medium flame.

Once you see steam coming , add the coarse rice rava and mix well .

Strir and cook on low flame for 5 mins .the moisture will evaporate and the mixture will become thick .

Off the flame and allow it to cool .

Now take the fine rice rava + thick coconut milk + sugar and mix well .

Add the cooked rice in it and mix well.

If the mixture is very thick , add 2 or 3 tbsp water and mix into a thick batter.

Mix well , cover and keep aside to ferment for 6 to 7 hrs .

STEAMING PROCESS

Keep water to boil in a sreamer .

Grease small bowls /plate / tray .

Our the batter and level it .

Steam for 15 to 20 mins on low flame .

VARIATIONS

We can add saffron to the mixture before steaming it .
