SNAKE GOURD PORIYAL WITH CHANA DAL / SNAKE GOURD STIR FRIED WITH CHANA DAL
INGREDIENTS
Snake gourd – 250 gms
Chana dal – ¼ cup
Oil – 1 tbsp.
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Urad dal – ½ tsp
Onion finely chopped – 1
Green chilly chopped – 2 or 3 or as per taste
Curry leaves – few
Sugar – a generous pinch
Salt as per taste
Freshly grated coconut for garnish – ¼ cup .
PREPARATION .
Scrape the outer whitish covering of the snake gourd using the knife . Cut it vertically into 2 and discard the white pulpy portion of seeds . Chop into small pieces .
Soak the chana dal for min 1 hr or more .
cook it with little salt till soft . Don’t over cook it .
