Saffron cookies
SAFFRON COOKIES / KESAR NANKHATAIS
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup Maida /APF
- 1 tbsp hot milk
- 3 tbsp Butter at room temperature
- 4 tbsp Powdered Sugar
- Few Saffron Strands / kesar
- 1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder or vanilla essence
- Dry fruits finely sliced for garnish
PREPARATION
- Preheat the oven to 180* C.
- Grease the baking tray
- Sieve the flour .
- Soak the saffron in hot milk and mash it with fingers to extract the juice from the saffron .
METHOD
Beat sugar + butter till creamy in a mixing bowl .
Add the saffron extract + cardamom pwdr and mix well.
Add the sieved flour and mix well with clean hands .
Knead it into a smooth and soft dough .
Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portion and make smooth balls with palm.
Now give desired shape .
***** I have used my chakli press to make these lovely shapes.
Arrange the cookies on the baking tray .Garnish with dry fruits and saffron .
Bake it for 15 – 20 mins till it is done .[180 * ]
Check after 15 mins.
Once done allow them to cool .[be careful as it will be soft ]
It will become crisp on cooling .
Saffron cocokies are ready to serve .
