SUGAR FREE DRY FRUIT LADOO / LADOO / DRY FRUIT LADOO / KHAJOOR KHATRI

Dry fruit ladoo

INGREDIENTS

  • Dates / khajur – 3/4 cup good quality [seedless]
  • Dried fig /anjeer – 4 or 5
  • Kismis – 1/4 cup
  • Cashew – ¼ cup
  • Almonds / badam– ¼ cup
  • Pista – ¼ cup
  • Cardamom pedr – 1/2 tsp
  • Ghee – 1 tbsp

PREPARATION

  • Discard the seeds of the khajur and chop it very very finely .
  • Also finely chop the other dry figs  .
  • Take the chopped khajur + kismis + dry figs in a mixie hjar and grind it .
  • Dry roast the cashew  + pista + badam for 2 mins .[ colour should not change ] Once cooled grind it into a coarse pwdr .

METHOD

Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a non stick pan on medium low flame, add the khajur MIXTURE .

Stir cook for 4 – 5 minutes on low flame , till it becomes soft / moist / pulpy.

Immediately mix in the dry fruits pwdr + cardamom pwdr and mix well.

Mix all the ingredients well and stir cook for a min and off the flame.

Allow it to cool .

Remove it in a plate and start kneading it once you are able to handle it .

Take small lemon size portion and roll it into smooth balls with greased hands.

Dry fruit balls /ladoos are ready .

Store it in airtight containers .Will last for 5 to 6 days at room temperature  .

VARIATION – I have made dry fruit rolls with same recipe and coated with poppy seeds as shown below.

NOTES

  1. For extra flavour add in 1 tbsp of gulkand in the khajur .
  2. You can add more ingredients like white sesame, poppy seeds melon seeds, desiccated coconut ,fried edible gum [gond ]
  3. You can add 1 tbsp of condensed milk or honey , if the mixture is too dry for rolling balls.
  4. You can give any shape.
  5. You can coat the balls with poppy seeds or  desiccated coconut.
  6. If using Poppy seeds , clean it first by picking tiny sand particles .
  7. Use dates of good quality. Soft ones like lion dates.
  8. While griding the dry fruits don’t over grind else it will become like paste.
