Toor dal dosa
TOOR DAL DOSA / TUVAR DAL DOSA
INGREDIENTS
- Toor / tuvar dal – 1/2 cup
- Parboiled rice / ukda chawal – 1/4 cup
- Raw rice [ sona masoori] – 1/4 cup
- Methi /fenugreek seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Ghee as required
PREPARATION
Clean ,wash ,rinse and soak the dal + rice + methi seeds in water for minimum 6 hrs or over night .
Drain off the excess water and take the dal in a mixie jar.
Grind it into a smooth paste by adding required water.
Not very thick or thin batter – medium consistency.Same as dosa batter consistency
Transfer the batter to a bowl , add salt and mix well with clean hands .
*** here we can use the batter immediately or ferment it for few hrs .I have fermented overnight .
Batter is ready for use .
METHOD
Heat a tava on medium high flame .
Once it is hot , sprinkle few drops of water and wipe it with a wet cloth .
Mix the batter well with the ladle .
Pour a ladle of batter and spread it into a thin dosa.
Drizzle oil or ghee all over .
****If the dosa is thick ,then we need to flip and cook on the other side also .
Else just cook on one side , fold the dosa and remove .
Serve hot with any South Indian accompaniment.
NOTES
- U can also make idli /dhokla with the same batter – add eno or baking soda
- While grinding we can red chilli + jeera like adai recipe .
- We can take more of dal and less of rice OR less of dal and more of rice.I have taken equal quantity of both.
