HOMEMADE BIRISTA /CRISPY GOLDEN FRIED ONIONS /FRIED ONIONS FOR BIRIYANI

INGREDIENTS
- Onion – 1 kg
- Oil – ½ ltr for deep frying
PREPARATION
Peel the onions ,wash and pat dry it.
Finely slice the onion into even slices.
*Use a slicer.

Heat oil in a thick bottom pan /kadai.
Once the oil is hot , add the onions.
Stir and fry on medium low flame till golden and crisp.
Stir and fry so that they brown up evenly .
Once done remove in a strainer.
Press and remove the excess oil .
Once done ,spread the onions on kitchen towel /napkin .
Allow it to cool for 8 to 10 mins .
Use a fork and separate the slices .
Once done ,store it in a air tight container .
You can store in fridge for mnths .
Now use it for making biryani or as garnishing agent .
NOTES –
- You get readymade barista in mkts ,but they contain cabbage .
- Don’t fry on high flame ,it will burn and the taste will spoil .
- Store the used oil in fridge .The oil can be reused for making sabjis .
VARIATION
Use sun dried onions for making birista .Gets fried in 2 mins and less oil consumption .
HOW TO SUN DRY ONIONS
Spread the thinly sliced onion on a cloth and sun dry for 3 to 4 days , till it is completely dry .
