How to bake without oven /baking in pan or pot

INGREDIENTS

  • Maida – 1 ½ cup
  • Fresh thick curd – 1 cup [ at room temperature]
  • Sugar – ¾ cup
  • Cooking oil – ½ cup [colourless and odourless]
  • Vanilla essence or any essence  – 1 ½ tsp
  • Baking soda – ½ tsp
  • Baking pwdr – 1 ¼ tsp

PREPARATION [ Keep all things ready before you start ]

  1. Grease and dust the baking tin.
  2. ******I used a heavy bottom pan , you can use a regular pan or handi , just place a tava below.

METHOD

Sieve the maida 2 times.

Powder the sugar

Beat the sugar + curd till the sugar dissolves and becomes creamy .

Add the baking pwdr + baking soda to this mixture and pulse beat .

Cover and keep it aside for  5 mins.

After 5 minutes you will see bubbles appearing , Transfer this to a mixing bowl .

Now add the cooking oil and and vanilla essence and mix well with a whisk. [no beating / blending  in mixie ]

  1. Preheat the pan /pot on medium flame for 5 minutes or low flame for 10 mins. Preheating means to heat the pot ,before you start baking.The pot has to be hot when you place the batter inside.
  2. Place the stand without touching the sides of the pot. No need to add water or anything. It has to be empty.

Now add the wet mixture to the flour and mix well with a spatula – remember no over mixing . [ see that there are no lumps ]

If the batter is thick , you can add 1 or 2 tbsp of milk .

Pour the batter in the tin and tap it well.

Place the batter tin on the stand without touching the sides of the pan with a pot holder. Be careful as the pot is hot.

Close the lid and bake for 30 – 35 or 40 minutes on very low flame.

Baking time depends on the size of the tin . Deeper the tin , more the baking time.

After 30 minutes insert a tooth prick or knife in the center of the cake. If it comes out clean .the cake is done or bake for some more time .

Once done remove the tin with a pot holder /tongs and allow it to cool.

Run a knife through the edge of the cake to loosen it .Invert it on a plate.

Once it cools ,slice it.

Allow it to cool down for atleast an hour , before you start decorating it.
