MUTTON MASALA

INGREDIENTS

  • Mutton – 600 gms
  • Curd – 1/2 cup
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  • Big onion – 2
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 1/2 tbsp
  • Oil – 3 or 4 tbsp or less
  • Red chilli pwdr – 1 tsp or as per taste
  • Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander pwdr – 3 tsp
  • Jeera pwdr – 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masla pwdr – 1 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilli – 2
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves + mint leaves – 1 cup
  • Salt to taste

PREPARATION

  1. Clean ,chop wash ,rinse and soak the mutton in water for 5 to 10 mins This helps in getting rid of the excess blood in the meat and the smell.
  2. Drain the excess water and keep in a colander.
  3. Finely slice the onions ,and fry them till crisp and brown .allow it to cool and pwdr it .

METHOD

Take the mutton in a pan , add all the above ingredients including the oil in the mutton and mix it well with clean hands .

Cover and keep it in fridge for an hour or overnight .

***More the marination better the taste.

Heat a cooker .

Add the marinated mutton in it and mix well.

Stir and cook for 3 – 4 mins .

Add 1 cup water and mix well. [Add water as per the consisitency you want ]

Now cover the cooker and cook on medium high upto 1 whistle.

After the first whistle , lower the flame and cook for 10 to 15 mins.

*** cooking time depends on the size of the mutton pieces .

Once done . allow the pressure to release and open it .

Mix well and garnish with coriander leaves .

Serve hot with any bread items or  rice varieties.
