Raw banana corn kebabs /cutlets /nuggets
RAW BANANA CORN KEBABS / CUTLETS / NUGGETS
INGREDIENTS
- Raw banana – 3 small
- Boiled corn – 1 cup mashed or blended
- Finely chopped coriander leaves – 2 or 3 tbsp
- Green chilly + garlic+ ginger paste – 2 tsp
- Garam masala or kitchen king masala – ½ tsp
- Chaat masala – ½ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Bread crumbs – 2 or 3 tbsp for binding
- Corn flour slurry – 2 tbsp corn flour mixed with 4 tbsp water
- Bread crumbs as required for coating
- Oil to deep or shallow fry
- Sauce or chutney to serve
PREPARATION
- Trim off the top and bottom of the banana . Pressure cook raw banana.[ don’t over cook ]
- Once it cools , peel of the skin of both .Mash it with a masher OR grate it .
METHOD
Transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl or plate.
Add coriander leaves + ginger garlic + chilli paste + garam masala + chaat masala + salt + and mix well with clean hands.
Check the consistency of the dough – it has to be thick .
Divide the mixture into equal portions and roll it into smooth balls .
Now give desired shapes to it or use it as balls.
If time permits , you can refrigerate or continue .
Dip the kebabs in cornflour mixture and roll it over the bread crumbs .The crumbs should cover the kebabs evenly on all sides.
**We can refrigerate these kebabs without frying and use it when required upto 2 days .
Repeat with all kebabs . Again if time permits , you can refrigerate for sometime ,else continue .Refrigerating helps in hardening .
Deep fry or shallow fry it till golden on all sides .
Serve hot with any sauces / dips /chutneys .
NOTES
- You can also shallow fry it .
- U can also added little rava with the bread crumbs
- U can fry it in appe pans .
- Y not try the same recipe with arbi / suran [yam ]
- We are using bread crumbs as a binding agent ,instead u can use roasted besan .Instead of bread crumbs ,you can add lightly wet fresh bread slices.
- You can also mashed potato.
- Don’t over cook the banana. For me 2 whistles were enough .
- You can also add chopped dry fruits .
