MORU KACHIYATHU RECIPE / KERALA STYLE SEASONED BUTTERMILK / SOUTHINDIAN MORU CURRY WITHOUT COCONUT / MORU CURRY RECIPE, KERALA MORU KACHIYATHU, KACHIYA MORU
Moru Kachiyathu is a simple and delicious Kerala style seasoned buttermilk which is prepared every day in a Malayalee household. Moru means buttermilk in Malayalam, and no south indian meal is complete without the last course of rice had with curd or buttermilk.
This Kerala Style seasoned buttermilk curry, also known as Moru Kachiyathu is nothing but buttermilk seasoned with Indian spices like ginger, garlic, green chilies, shallots, curry leaves etc. Also, for the traditional taste, use coconut oil for the tadka. Some people make it with coconut and some without coconut.
This gravy is very good when we are having stomach upset or in digestion. Papad , pickle and this curry goes very well with hot rice.

METHOD
Take curd + water + salt and whisk well.Keep aside .
Heat coconut oil in a pn , add the mustard seeds and let it crackle.
Add the methi seeds and give a mix .[ don’t burn it .
Add onion + curry leaves + red chillies + green chilli +garlic and stir fry till light brown .
Add the chopped ginger + turmeric powder and just give a mix .
Turn the flame to low, and slowly add the buttermilk .
Keep stirring, until the buttermilk get just warm .
Please don’t bring it to a boil ,else the curry will curdle .
Serve with steamed rice + stirfried vege + kerala papad + pickle etc .
