Ragi ladoo
RAGI / NACHNI LADOO
INGREDIENTS
- Ragi flour – 1 cup
- White sesame / til – ¼ cup
- Desiccated Coconut – ¼ cup
- Grated jaggery – ½ cup
- Water – ¼ cup
- Cardamom – ¼ tsp
- Cocoa pwdr – 1 or 2 tsp
- Ghee – 3 or 4 tbsp
PREPARATION
- Dry roast sesame till it puffs up .colour should not change .[do not burn it]
- Dry roast ragi flour for on low flame till aromatic .Colour should not change and don’t burn it .
METHOD
Take ragi flour + sesame + coconut + cardamom pwdr + cocoa pwdr and mix well with clean hands .
Heat jaggery + water in a pan .
Boil it till it thickens .[string consistency not required]
Add ghee to the syrup and mix well .
Add the flour mixture to the jaggery syrup and mix well .
Grease your palms .
Take small portion of the mixture and roll it into smooth ladoos .
Be quick at this stage. We have to make the ladoos when the mixture is hot .
Else the mixture hardens .
Ladoos are ready to serve .
Store in airtight container .
NOTES
- Instead of jaggery we can use sugar.
- I have added sesame to give a texture to the ladoo.
- Instead of sesame ,you can roast poha ,grind it and add .
- U can use dried coconut – roast it .
- I added less ghee so got little dry texture – but are healthy .
- The more the ghee ,more the soft ladoos .
- Because of cocoa pwdr the kids like it .
- I made mini ladoos .
- if the mixture is dry ,u can use little warm milk to give moisture .
