Radish leaves stir fry
RADISH LEAVES STIR FRY WITH MOONG DAL / MOOLI KE PATHE KI SABJI
INGREDIENTS
- Radish /mooli /leaves – 1 bunch
- Split yellow moong dal – 3 or 4 tbsp
- Onion finely chopped – 1
- Green chilli chopped 2 or as per taste
- Oil – ½ tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Freshly grated coconut – 3 or 4 tbsp
- Asafoetida – a pinch
- Salt to taste
PREPARATION.
- Clean , wash and rinse the leaves. Chop it finely. Also scrape the skin and chop the white part.
- Wash and soak the dal for 15 – 20 mins.
METHOD
Heat oil in a pan / kadai , add mustard seeds and let it crackle.
Add onion + green chilli and fry till translucent.
Add asafoetida and mix well .
Add the soaked dal + salt , mix well and stir fry for a minute.
Top it with the greens and cover the pan and cook for 2 mins . [don’t mix ]
Allow the leaves to sweat . [leave water ]
Open the lid and mix well .
Now cook for few mins without lid by stirring in between .
Cook till complete water evaporates and the leaves are cooked.
Finally add the grated coconut and mix well.
Off the flame .
Serve as a side dish .
NOTES
- Moong dal is optional .
- You can add few crushed garlic.
- Instead of green chilli use whole red chilli .
- Instead of moong dal we can add ¾th cooked channa dal / tuvar dal .
