Curd coconut chutney
CURD COCONUT CHUTNEY
INGREDIENTS
- Freshly grated coconut – ½ cup
- Roasted gram dal /chutney dal /daria dal – ¼ cup
- Green chilly – 2 or as required
- Garlic – 2 small
- Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
- Fresh curd – 4 or 5 tbsp [ not sour ]
- Water – ¼ or ½ cup [ as per the consistency you want ]
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tsp
- Broken red chilli – 1
- Curry leaves – few
- Mustard seeds+ urad dal – 1 tsp
- Asafoetida- a pinch
METHOD
Take the coconut + green chilli + garlic + daria dal + coriander leaves + salt and grind it to a fine paste.
Add curd and blend [ pulse beat ] again.
Transfer to a serving bowl.
Heat oil in a small pan,add mustard seed + urad dal and let it crackle.
Add broken red chilli + curry leaves + asafoetida ,stir fry.
Add this tempering over the chutney and mix well.
Serve curd chutney as side dish for any SouthIndian breakfast.
NOTES
- Instead of garlic ,u can add a small piece of ginger .
- Use fresh curd ,not sour.
