Lemon idli

                                                                LEMON IDLI

INGREDIENTS

  • Mini idlis – 15 or 4 big idlis chopped
  • Broken cashew – few
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Green chilli or red chilli as per taste
  • Mustard seeds + urad dal – ½ tsp
  • Lemon juice – 1 or 2 tsp
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Turmeric – a pinch
  • Oil + ghee – ½ tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves – 1 tbsp
  • Peanuts and chana dal – 1 tsp [optional ]

PREPARATION

METHOD

Heat oil in a pan ,add mustard seeds + urad dal and let it splutter.

Add peanuts + gram dal + cashew + chilli + curry leaves and fry for few seconds on medium flame .[don’t burn ]

Add turmeric pwdr + asafoetida + salt + coriander leaves and mix well.[ Frying coriander leaves gives a nice flavour instead of just adding raw for garnish ]

Off the flame and add lemon juice and mix well.

Add the idlis and toss well.

Lemon idli is ready to serve .

NOTES

  1. You can use leftover idlis .If using from fridge then microwave it or steam it or cover and cook it after adding in the masala.
  2. You can also crumble the idlis like upma and make it .
  3. You can add a pinch of grated ginger as v add for lemon rice .
