Masala poha
MASALA POHA
INGREDIENTS
- Poha – 2 cup [ thick not thin ]
- Onion finely chopped – 1 big
- Potato finely cubed – 1small
- Cooked green peas + finely chopped carrot + finely chopped capsicum – 3/4 or 1cup
- Red chilli pwdr – 3/4tsp or as per taste
- Pav bhaji masala /garam masala / kitchen king masala– 1/2 tsp
- Coriander pwdr – 1 tsp
- Turmeric pwdr – ¼ tsp
- Sugar – ½ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Jeera – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves – few
- Lemon juice – 1 tsp
- Finely chopped coriander leaves for garnish
- Fresh grated coconut for garnish – 1 tbsp [optional ]
PREPARATION
Take the poha in a colander as shown in the video .Clean ,wash and rinse the poha twice or thrice. Drain the water completely . Add little salt, mix well ,cover and keep aside for 8 – 10 mins.
METHOD
Heat oil in a pan. , add jeera and allow to crackle.
Add onion + curry leaves and fry till onions become translucent.
Add very finely chopped potatoes, drizzle few drops of water , cover and cook till potatoes soften.
Add the mixed veges and stir fry for 1 or 2 min .
Lower the flame and add chilli pwdr + coriander pwdr + garam masala pwdr + turmeric + salt + sugar ,mix well and fry for few seconds .
Add the soaked poha and mix well.
If its dry ,sprinkle few drops of water.
Lower the flame and cook for 1 minute.
Off the flame garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves ,coconut and drizzle the lemon juice as required .
Serve hot.
