Masala poha

INGREDIENTS

  • Poha –  2 cup [ thick not thin ]
  • Onion finely chopped – 1 big
  • Potato finely cubed – 1small
  • Cooked green peas + finely chopped carrot + finely chopped capsicum – 3/4 or 1cup
  • Red chilli pwdr – 3/4tsp or as per taste
  • Pav bhaji masala /garam masala / kitchen king masala– 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander pwdr – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric pwdr – ¼ tsp
  • Sugar – ½ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Jeera – 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Lemon juice – 1 tsp
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves for garnish
  • Fresh grated coconut for garnish – 1 tbsp [optional ]

PREPARATION

Take the poha in a colander as shown in the video .Clean ,wash  and rinse  the poha  twice or thrice. Drain the water completely . Add little salt, mix well ,cover and keep aside for 8 – 10 mins.

METHOD

Heat oil in a pan. , add jeera and allow to crackle.

Add  onion + curry leaves  and fry till onions become translucent.

Add very finely chopped potatoes, drizzle few drops of water , cover  and cook till potatoes soften.

Add the mixed veges and stir fry for  1 or 2 min .

Lower the flame and add chilli pwdr + coriander pwdr + garam masala pwdr + turmeric + salt + sugar ,mix well and fry for few seconds .

Add the soaked poha and mix well.

If its dry ,sprinkle few drops of water.

Lower the flame and cook for 1 minute.

Off the flame garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves ,coconut and drizzle the lemon juice as required .

Serve hot.
