Buttermilk dosa
BUTTERMILK DOSA
INGREDIENTS
- Idli rice – 2 cup
- Poha / rice flakes – ½ cup
- Fenugreek seeds – 1 tsp
- Sour butter milk – 3 or 3 ½ cup
- Cooking soda – ¼ tsp or a generous pinch [ is a must as we are not fermenting the batter ]
- Salt to taste
- Oil or ghee to drizzle
PREPARATION
- Clean ,wash ,rinse and soak the rice + poha + fenugreek seeds in buttermilk for overnight . [ 5 – 6 hrs minimum ]
- The buttermilk should be atleast 1 inch above the rice level .
METHOD
Next day morning ,drain the excess buttermilk .
Transfer it to the mixie jar and grind it to a smooth batter by adding water.[ little thinner than regular dosa batter ]
Add salt and mix well .
**** you can keep aside the batter for sometime if time permits or start making the dosas.
Add the cooking soda and mix well .
Heat a non stick tava / dosa tava .
Once the tava is hot pour a ladle of batter and spread it gently if required .[don’t give pressure while spreading . [ flame medium low after pouring ]
Drizzle oil all over .
Cook for a minute .
Spongy buttermilk dosa is ready to serve .
Serve with spicy coconut chutney / sambar / gun powder .
There is no need to flip and cook .
